Howard, Montana State tip Eastern Washington 60-56

CHENEY, Wash. (AP) — Bobby Howard scored 15 points, including Montana State’s final eight, and the Bobcats snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 60-56 victory over Eastern Washington on Thursday night.

Howard sank six straight foul shots over the final 1:38 to seal it for the Bobcats (12-16, 6-8 Big Sky), who got 12 points from Chris McCall and 11 from Cody Anderson.

Laron Griffin had 12 points and 15 rebounds and Glen Dean had 12 points and six assists for the Eagles (8-19, 5-9), who lost their fourth straight despite leading 45-35 with 12:44 left.

From that point, the Bobcats outscored Eastern Washington 17-2 and went up 52-47.

But the Eagles closed within 54-52 on a 3-pointer from Cliff Colimon.

After Howard sank two foul shots, Griffin scored to pull Eastern Washington within 56-54 with 21.5 seconds left. Howard sandwiched four free throws around an Eagles turnover to seal it.
