NEW YORK (AP) — MSNBC is facing questions about a recently aired story on a Seattle steel plant two months after the news network announced the plant’s corporate owner would be a “partner” in making a series on the economy.

The feature on Nucor Corp.’s process of turning recycled material into usable steel was described as “incredible” by MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan.

MSNBC announced two months earlier Nucor would be its partner in a reporting trip that highlighted American innovations. The network didn’t make clear then or on Thursday what the partnership entailed, raising questions about whether it was granting positive publicity to a corporation in return for financial help.

MSNBC spokeswoman Lauren Skowronski says several companies have been featured in the series.
