Santa Clara holds off Loyola Marymount in 2 OT

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Marc Trasolini scored a career-high 31 points, and Ben Dowdell had 26 points and 14 rebounds, both career highs, leading Santa Clara to a 94-88 victory over Loyola Marymount in double overtime Thursday night.

Evan Roquemore had 14 points and Kevin Foster added 12 points for Santa Clara (17-13, 7-6).

Drew Viney scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while freshman Anthony Ireland added 21, tying his career high, for LMU (10-19, 2-11). Vernon Teel scored 17 points for the Lions.

The Broncos remained in a tie for fourth with Portland in the West Coast Conference with one game remaining. Only the top four teams earn a first-round bye in the WCC tournament that begins next week.

The score was 66-all at the end of regulation and tied at 74 after the first overtime. The Broncos took an 85-80 lead with 1:38 left on a Dowdell basket from close range.
