ARE, Sweden (AP) — Lindsey Vonn took the early lead ahead of rival Maria Riesch on Friday in a World Cup super-combined race.
Vonn finished the super-G in 1 minute, 14.05 seconds, putting her 0.16 seconds ahead of Riesch and .35 clear of Elisabeth Goergl of Austria.
The slalom leg is later Friday.
Anja Paerson of Sweden was .42 back in fourth, with Julia Mancuso of the United States trailing by .45 in fifth.
Riesch is defending her lead over Vonn in the overall World Cup standings.
Vonn won a super-combine race in Val d’Isere last December.
