ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Cornerback Stanford Routt has officially signed his three-year, $31.5 million deal with the Raiders, saying he’s pleased with the commitment Oakland made.
Routt released a statement Friday, a day after reports surfaced that he had agreed to the new deal instead of testing free agency.
Routt is guaranteed $20 million over the first two years of the deal and says he’s happy not to have to deal with the unknown that could come with a potential lockout next week.
Routt is coming off his best season in his six years as a pro, posting one of the best coverage rates of any cornerback in the league in 2010.
