MARANA, Ariz. (AP) — Martin Kaymer of Germany is one match from claiming the No. 1 ranking.

Kaymer let a big lead slip away on the back nine Saturday morning of the Match Play Championship before parring the 18th hole to defeat Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain.

Kaymer would replace Lee Westwood at No. 1 if he reaches the championship match at Dove Mountain.

In the other quarterfinals, Luke Donald of England put on another strong display to easily beat Ryan Moore, 5 and 4. Donald has played only 60 holes over four matches and has yet to trail. He next plays Matt Kuchar, who advanced with a 2-and-1 victory over Y.E. Yang of South Korea.

Kaymer plays the winner of the J.B. Holmes-Bubba Watson match. Holmes has a 1-up lead playing the long 18th hole.
