O’Quinn, Norfolk State beat Morgan State 69-63

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Kyle O’Quinn scored 23 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead Norfolk State over Morgan State 69-63 on Saturday.

O’Quinn was 10 of 15 from the field and the Spartans (9-18, 7-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) shot 52.8 percent for the game (28 for 53).

The Bears (15-11, 10-4) shot 39.3 percent from the field, including just 2 of 10 from 3-point range, and were 13 of 22 from the free-throw line.

Rob Hampton added 15 points and Chris McEachin 11 for the Spartans, who also beat Morgan State on Jan. 29, 76-74. O’Quinn scored 24 points during that victory.

Norfolk State had lost two straight and five of its last six heading into Saturday’s game.

Kevin Thompson paced the Bears with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Aric Brooks chipped in 12 points and DeWayne Jackson 10 for Morgan State, which had a five-game winning streak snapped.
