Quinnipiac holds off Fairleigh Dickinson 71-60

HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Justin Rutty scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Quinnipiac over Fairleigh Dickinson 71-60 on Saturday in both teams’ regular-season finale.

The Bobcats (21-8, 13-5 Northeast Conference) led just 31-28 at halftime despite posting a 29-12 rebounding edge in the opening half.

Quinnipiac scored the first 15 points of the second half, capped by a layup from Rutty with 14:57 remaining, to open up a 46-28 lead. The Bobcats led by double-digits the rest of the way and by as many as 20, 51-31, with 12:38 to go.

James Johnson added 13 points and Deontay Twyman and Lance Brown each scored 12 for Quinnipiac, which has won six straight and nine of 10 overall.

Mike Scott scored 27 points and Terence Grier added 13 for the Knights (5-24, 3-15), who have lost 12 of their last 13 contests.

The Bobcats outrebounded Fairleigh Dickinson 54-26.
