LAKEWOOD, Wash. (AP) — Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a natural gas explosion and fire to rock a metal building at a Pierce Transit facility in Lakewood, Wash. West Pierce Fire & Rescue Capt. Jenny Sharp says no one was injured in the explosion shortly after 5 p.m. Monday. A evacuation order for a nearby area has been lifted.

Pierce Transit spokesman Lind Simonsen says the 15-by-25-foot shed houses mechanical compressors that compress the natural gas that fuels Pierce Transit buses. He says the transit agency has contingency plans for fueling buses and maintenance folks are hard at work. He suggests bus riders check the Pierce Transit website Tuesday morning for any service disruptions.

No immediate estimate of damage from the fire.
