Wet snow is still possible this afternoon, as temperatures dip an another band of heavy moisture approaches the area.

Snow levels could be as low as 100 feet, and wet slush could temporarily coat parts of the metro area.

The temperature at Pearson Field fell from 43 degrees at 5:22 a.m. to 39 degrees at 10:53 a.m.

Already standing water on Fourth Plain and other urban arterials is challenging drivers.

The commute started normally, but the heavy weather caused numerous traffic delays. Interstate 5 was backed up to Main Street at the 8 o’clock hour. Only one accident was reported however, a noninjury affair at 709 N.E. 112th St. that occurred about 8:15 a.m.

So far 0.79 inch of rain has fallen at Pearson since 4 a.m., including a quarter-inch in the 5 o-clock hour this morning. Soaking rain will continue for the next few days.

A wind advisory currently in effect for the metro area expires at 10 a.m.

The storm has caused several power outages in Clark County. At 5:30 a.m., Clark Public Utilities was working on outages near Yacolt, southeast of La Center and in Cascade Park. About 2,400 customers were without power. An hour later, all but 200 customers’ service had been restored, and they were back on line before 10 a.m.

The forecast:

This Afternoon: Rain and snow. Snow level 100 feet. High near 43. South southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tonight: Rain, possibly mixed with snow. Low around 32. South wind between 6 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday: Rain, possibly mixed with snow, becoming all rain after 10am. Snow level rising to 2500 feet. High near 43. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
