ELK, Wash. (AP) — Firefighters in the small town of Elk about 25 miles north of Spokane say a fire in a motor home has killed a woman and her young son.

Authorities say they found the body of the 23-year-old mother after they put out the flames Saturday afternoon, and found the 2-year-old child a short while later.

Firefighters say the fire destroyed the motor home and spread to a nearby barn. They are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire but they don’t believe there was any suspicious activity.

Investigators will not release names until next of kin is notified.
