Tennessee Tech defeats Bluefield 74-56

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Chase Dunn scored 21 points and Kevin Murphy 20 to lead Tennessee Tech to a 74-56 victory over Bluefield College on Sunday.

The Golden Eagles (6-6) defeated the Ramblin’ Rams, an NAIA team that counted the game as an exhibition, for the seventh time in seven meetings, but they didn’t have an easy time.

Bluefield led 16-5 and was still ahead 28-27 with 2:54 left in the first half before Tennessee Tech scored the next eight points for a 35-28 halftime lead.

Dunn scored seven points as the Golden Eagles outscored the Rams 12-4 at the start of the second half to lead 47-32 with 14:50 remaining. Tennessee Tech’s biggest lead was 27 points, 70-43 with 3 minutes left.

Bluefield made only two field goals in the first 14:57 of the second half and shot just 25.8 percent (8 for 31) from the field after halftime.

Rob Wright led Bluefield with 14 points.
