TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Washington state is holding a drawing for special hunting permits for people who turn in reports for the tags they bought in 2010.
Under state law, all hunters, whether successful or not, are required to submit hunting reports for each black beer, deer, elk or turkey tag they purchase. Failure to meet the Jan. 31 deadline can result in a $10 fine. But The News Tribune reports those who do turn in their reports will be entered to win one of five deer permits and four elk permits in various areas of the state.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife says the annual hunting reports are an important source of information for resource management and planning for future hunting seasons.
