Body of Ore. man missing in Willamette is found

NEWBERG, Ore. (AP) -- The body of a Newberg, Ore., boater who disappeared Nov. 26 while fishing in the Willamette River has been found.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree says another boater spotted the remains of 49-year-old Kevin Williams on Monday, about two miles upriver from Newberg.

Deputies say identification found on the body confirmed it was Williams.

Sheriff's officers searched unsuccessfully after another man reported on Nov. 26 that he and his son saw a man struggling with an anchor on a small aluminum boat, then later saw only life jackets and debris floating where the boat had been. A pickup truck and boat trailer associated with Williams were found nearby.

KPTV reports that investigators think Williams' death involved the capsizing or sudden sinking of his boat. He was not wearing a life jacket.
