CORNELIUS, Ore. (AP) — The new Cornelius City Council and mayor are waiting two weeks to vote on whether to fire the city manager.
Mayor-elect Neal Knight said weeks ago that he planned to fire City Manager Dave Waffle at Monday night’s meeting. The Oregonian reports that Knight talked to city attorney Paul Elsner during a 10-minute recess and decided to postpone the vote until Jan. 18 to “to cover our legal bases.”
Dozens of people packed the meeting to speak on Waffle’s behalf, saying he had turned the city around.
