LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Monique Reid scored 24 points, Becky Burke added 21 and Louisville upset No. 18 St. John’s 84-73 on Tuesday.

The Cardinals (11-5, 2-0 Big East) forced the Red Storm (12-3, 1-1) into a season-high 23 turnovers to knock off a ranked team for the third time this season.

Tia Gibbs added 18 points and 10 rebounds and freshman point guard Shoni Schimmel had 11 points and 11 assists for Louisville, which took control in the first half and never let the Red Storm get closer than five over the game’s final 25 minutes.

Shenneika Smith led St. John’s with 23 points and Eugenia McPherson had 15 points and four rebounds but the Red Storm struggled holding onto the ball.

Louisville wasn’t much better, turning it over 19 times, but the Cardinals made 10 of 23 3-pointers and was steady at the free-throw line in the final minutes as the Red Storm tried to come back.
