Clark County’s homebuilding industry showed signs of recovery in 2010, according to a Tuesday report that showed 515 permits were issued to build houses here last year.

The permit total represented a 24 percent increase over the 415 permits handed out in 2009. However, the 2010 total was down by 58 percent from the peak building year of 2007, when 1,245 permits were issued to build single-family homes.

Home construction values topped $147.7 million in 2010, a 50 percent increase over 2009, when the total value of housing permits issued was $98.2 million.
