East Tennessee State defeats Kennesaw State 80-69

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Justin Tubbs scored 21 points and East Tennessee State defeated Kennesaw State 80-69 on Wednesday night.

Adam Sollazzo added 12 points and nine assists, Mike Smith chipped in 17 points and Micah Williams had 16 for the Buccaneers (8-7, 3-1 Atlantic-Sun Conference).

ETSU shot 52.4 percent from the floor (33 of 63), including 6 of 14 from 3-point range (42.9 percent), and outrebounded the Owls 34-28.

ETSU scored 13 points off 13 Kennesaw State (3-11, 1-3) turnovers, while committing just seven.

The Buccaneers led 14-10 early before scoring 12 straight to lead 28-13 with 9:32 to go in the first half. The Owls cut it to 10, 35-25 with 2:18 left, but ETSU closed out the first half on a 5-0 run to lead 40-25 at the break. Tubbs scored 16 in the first half.

Spencer Dixon led Kennesaw State with 15 points and Markeith Cummings added 12.
