LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Casper Ware scored 23 points Wednesday night to lead Long Beach State to an 85-71 victory over Cal State Northridge.
Ware had all five of the 49ers’ 3-pointers. Larry Anderson added 19 points, Eugene Phelps had 18 points and nine rebounds and T.J. Robinson contributed 15 points and eight rebounds for Long Beach State (8-8, 3-0 Big West).
Ware was 5 for 9 from long range while the rest of the 49ers were 0 for 6. Ware also had six assists, Anderson produced five steals and Phelps blocked three shots for the 49ers, who led 45-35 at halftime.
Rashaun McLemore led Cal State Northridge (4-10, 1-2) with 20 points while Lenny Daniel had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Matadors.
