Olasewere leads Long Island over Bryant 75-55

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Jamal Olasewere scored 17 points to lead Long Island over Bryant 75-55 on Thursday night.

The Blackbirds (10-4, 2-1 Northeast Conference), who never trailed, led 8-4 when Olasewere’s layup sparked a 17-2 run. Olasewere and Kyle Johnson scored six points each during the spurt. Michael Culp scored the run’s final five points, capped by a 3, to put Long Island up 25-6.

Julian Boyd had 12 points and 13 rebounds for Long Island. David Hicks chipped in 13 points and Johnson added 12 for the Blackbirds, who won their fourth straight.

Long Island held the Bulldogs (2-13, 0-3) to 10-of-34 shooting in the first half (29.4 percent), and led 41-22 at halftime.

Alex Francis, who scored 14 of Bryant’s first 16 points in the second half, finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Vlad Kondratyev also had a double-double for the Bulldogs with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
