MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin running back John Clay says he will enter the NFL draft.

Clay had 1,012 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns this season, but saw his workload decrease with the emergence of fellow running backs James White and Montee Ball.

In a statement released Friday, Clay says skipping his final year of eligibility to go to the NFL is the “right decision for me at this time” and he’s excited to start a new chapter of his career.

Clay is seventh in Wisconsin history with 3,413 career yards rushing and fifth with 41 career touchdowns.

Badgers defensive end J.J. Watt also declared for the draft this week.
