NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Kendall Timmons scored 26 points, leading four Tulane players in double figures, as the Green Wave defeated Southern Methodist 79-70 on Saturday.

Kris Richard added 18 points while Jordan Callahan had 13 and David Booker contributed 10 as Tulane (12-3, 2-0 Conference USA) won its sixth in a row.

Justin Haynes scored 21 points to lead SMU (9-6, 0-1), while Papa Dia contributed a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The two combined to make 15 of 24 shots from the field (62.5 percent), helping the Mustangs shoot 54 percent overall (27 of 50). SMU worked the ball inside, where it outscored Tulane 36-26 in the paint.

Tulane had the advantage from long range, led by Timmons making 4 of 5 shots beyond the 3-point arc. But the Green Wave were whistled for eight fewer fouls (21-13) and made 20 of 21 free throws to hand the Mustangs their second loss in a row.
