MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — An Oregon man serving more than a decade in prison for a bank robbery in Alabama has been sentenced to another 17 years and 9 months in prison for another pair of holdups.
U.S. District Judge Ginny Granade sentenced 48-year-old Jerald Dean Godwin last week for driving the getaway car in two separate heists in Baldwin County in August 2008. Godwin pleaded guilty to the charges last year.
His attorney, Art Powell, said Godwin had a drug addiction.
His sentence was shorter than it could have been because he helped persuade his accomplice to plead guilty.
