SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service says the snow forecast for much of Western Washington on Tuesday will be short-lived as it turns to rain in warmer temperatures Wednesday.
Forecasters expect heavy snow in the mountains — 1-to-2 feet in the Cascades — and parts of Eastern Washington.
The frigid air over the Northwest means the precipitation moving in from the Pacific Tuesday afternoon will start to fall as snow. Forecasters expect 1-to-3 inches in most parts of Western Washington with a chance of heavier snow along the Hood Canal and northwest interior.
Forecasters have issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow in the Cascade passes.
Snow amounts will vary across Eastern Washington. Six-to-10 inches are forecast for Spokane.
