LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister David Cameron and London Mayor Boris Johnson have warned union leaders that striking during the Olympics would damage the country’s economy and reputation.

The politicians outlined the potential impact in an article for The Sun newspaper after London subway workers threatened to strike on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding day in April.

Cameron and Johnson wrote that unions have “got the Olympics in their sights too, refusing to rule out strikes over one of our most important national events for decades.”

They warn the newspaper’s readers about the potential “damage done by reckless strikes — not just to your own cause, but to the lives of ordinary workers, the health of our economy and the reputation of our country.”
