OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed that flags at Washington state buildings be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday in memory of a soldier from Granger who was killed in Afghanistan.

KAPP reports the funeral for Pfc. Robert Near will be held Monday at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside.
