PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Luke Sikma scored 24 points to lead Portland to a 79-78 double-overtime victory over Loyola Marymount on Thursday night.

Sikma had six points in the second overtime as the Pilots (13-4, 1-1 West Coast Conference) opened a 75-70 lead with 55 seconds left. But the edge was only 76-75 after a 3-pointer by the Lions’ Drew Viney with 17 seconds left.

Portland’s Tim Douglas hit one of two free throws to make it 77-75 with 12.5 seconds to go. That gave Viney a chance to give the Lions (8-9, 1-2) the lead, but he missed a 3-pointer with 6 seconds remaining, and the Lions were forced to foul.

Two free throws by Jared Stohl pushed Portland’s advantage to 79-75, which made a 3-pointer at the buzzer by the Lions’ Anthony Ireland meaningless.

Stohl finished with 15 points. Viney led the Lions with 24, while Ireland had 15.
