Committee assignments in Olympia have been shuffled for 18th District state Rep. Ed Orcutt, R-Kalama.

His is among several start-of-session switches announced Tuesday by the House of Representatives GOP caucus.

Orcutt joins the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, and departs the Environmental Committee.

He will remain on the Ways and Means Committee, and on the Community Development and Housing panel.

Orcutt said he requested the change: He previously served on the Agriculture and Natural Resources panel, but a schedule conflict with Finance Committee hearings rendered that impossible the past two years.

Now, House leaders have agreed to merge finance matters into Ways and Means, and to dissolve the separate committee, which frees Orcutt’s time, he said.

First appointed, then elected, to the House in 2002, he continues to serve on the Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council.
