San Jose State defeats Louisiana Tech 79-74

RUSTON, La. (AP) — Keith Shamburger scored 21 points, including nine straight during a key stretch late, for San Jose State in a 79-74 win over Louisiana Tech on Thursday night.

The Spartans (9-7, 1-4 Western Athletic Conference) trailed 65-58 with 5:31 left in the game before Shamburger led a 9-0 run. San Jose State took a 67-65 lead on Shamburger’s free throws with 3:38 remaining.

Tevin Hall’s layup tied it 27 seconds later, but the Spartans scored six straight to snap a four-game losing streak.

Justin Graham added 21 points, Wil Carter 14 and Calvin Douglas 13 for San Jose State, which shot 57.1 percent from the field (28 of 49).

DeAndre Brown and Hall scored 17 points each for the Bulldogs (9-9, 3-1), who turned it over 16 times, leading to 19 Spartans’ points. Cordarius Johnson added 14 points and Olu Ashaolu grabbed 11 rebounds for San Jose State.
