NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) — Javon Borum scored 23 points and made five 3-pointers to lead UC Riverside to a 70-61 win over Cal State Northridge on Thursday night.

Elliott Berry and Phil Martin added 15 points each and Daymond Cowlah 14 for the Highlanders (7-8, 2-1 Big West), who snapped a 12-game losing streak against Cal State Northridge. Cowlah — a freshman who started at guard because Kareem Nitoto missed the game due to a death in his family — had seven assists and five steals.

Josh Greene had 17 points and Lenny Daniel 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Matadors (4-12, 1-3).

An 11-0 run during a 3:46 stretch of the second half gave UC Riverside control. Borum had five points, including a three-point play, and Martin added two jumpers during the spree, which gave the Highlanders a 45-35 cushion.

Dathan Lyles and Rashaun McLemore scored 10 points each for Cal State Northridge.
