MARIBOR, Slovenia (AP) — The International Ski Federation says the women’s World Cup giant slalom race on Saturday is doubtful after days of warm weather and rain have damaged the course in Slovenia.

FIS women’s race director Atle Skaardal said Friday that a final decision about staging the race would be made just hours before the start.

The course has been softened by unusually high temperatures of up to 59 degrees. Course workers are trying to harden it by injecting water and chemicals into the snow.

A women’s slalom race on the same course is scheduled for Sunday.
