RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Bradford Burgess scored 26 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had five steals to lead Virginia Commonwealth to a 73-64 win over Northeastern on Saturday.

Jamie Skeen finished with 18 points and seven rebounds for the Rams (13-5, 5-1 Colonial Athletic Association), who won their fourth straight. Ed Nixon scored 10 points, while Joey Rodriguez had seven assists.

Virginia Commonwealth took a 28-15 lead — its largest of the contest — when Rob Brandenberg made a 3-pointer with 4:50 left in the first half. Northeastern would not go away easily, cutting the Rams lead to single digits before halftime.

The Huskies trimmed Virginia Commonwealth’s lead to 62-59 on Joel Smith’s jumper with 3:03 to play. But the Rams answered with 10 straight points, sparked by Rodriguez’s four free throws and a slam dunk by Burgess to pull away.

Smith scored 17 points for Northeastern (4-13, 0-6).
