Northern Arizona pulls away for 79-58 victory

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Cameron Jones scored 19 points and Shane Johannsen added 18 as Northern Arizona beat Sacramento State 79-58 on Saturday night.

Eric Platt had 15 points for the Lumberjacks (10-7, 2-3 Big Sky), who won their 12th straight game against the Hornets (3-14, 0-6).

Sultan Toles-Bey and John Dickson scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Sacramento State, which has lost eight straight games and dropped to 0-10 on the road.

Stallon Saldivar had 10 assists and just one turnover for Northern Arizona, which shot 50 percent (7 of 14) from 3-point range and outscored the Hornets 42-24 in the paint.

Johannsen made his first eight shots and finished 8 of 9 from the floor, finishing one point shy of his career high. He also grabbed six rebounds and had three blocks.

Johannsen had 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting in the first half to help Northern Arizona open a 36-27 lead at halftime.
