PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Northwest streams have been rising this week because warming temperatures and rain have melted snow at low elevations in the mountains — and storms this weekend in western Oregon and Washington may push some over their banks.
The National Weather Service said Saturday it expects rainfall through Sunday, bringing 3 to 6 inches in the Cascade Range and Olympic Mountains in Washington, 4 to 6 inches along the Oregon coast and coastal mountains, and 2 to 4 inches in Southwest Oregon.
The Oregon geology department says people living in or driving through steep areas should be wary of potential landslides and debris flows.
