Florida Gulf Coast shoots record 55 3s in 14th win

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Florida Gulf Coast attempted a Division I-record 55 3-pointers in an 87-52 win over Mercer on Monday night.

The Eagles (14-0, 7-0 Atlantic Sun Conference), who along with Duke are the only unbeaten Division I teams in the country, made 20 long-range shots, coming within one of the Division I record.

Eglah Griffin had seven 3-pointers on her way to a career-high 25 points. Six Eagles had 3-pointers and three attempted at least 10.

Nicoya Jackson had 14 points on 4-of-11 3s, Shannon Murphy had 11 points and made 3 of 10 3s and Kelsey Jacobson was 3 of 11 from long range with nine points.

Florida Gulf Coast shot 36.4 percent from long range and made 28 of 76 from the field overall (36.8 percent).

Briana Williams and Alex Phillips paced the Bears (1-15, 1-6) with 16 points each.
