BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty was wheeled into an ambulance during the first intermission of the team’s game against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.

Pacioretty was parked in front of the Sabres net when he was struck on his right side by teammate James Wisniewski’s shot from the blue line.

Pacioretty was conscious and hooked to an IV as he left HSBC Arena. The Canadiens didn’t have an immediate update on the player’s status after he was hurt early in the first period.

Pacioretty skated away holding his right arm before falling to his knees at the right circle. He was attended to by trainers and had difficulty skating off the ice.
