McCray’s 18 points lead Nebraska in 79-67 victory

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Toney McCray matched his career high with 18 points and Nebraska defeated Colorado 79-67 on Tuesday night, ending the Buffaloes’ seven-game winning streak.

Jorge Brian Diaz had 14 points on 7-for-8 shooting and Lance Jeter and Drake Beranek added 10 apiece for the Cornhuskers (14-4, 2-2).

Alec Burks had 22 points but committed seven turnovers, and Levi Knutson had 17 points for Colorado (14-5, 3-1). The Buffaloes, who were off to their best Big 12 start since 1996-97, were held 17 points under their season-scoring average.

Nebraska led 31-30 at half and used a 13-2 run early in the second half to break the game open. Colorado committed seven of its 16 turnovers in the first nine minutes after halftime.

Jeter added nine assists and six rebounds for the Huskers.
