FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The New England Patriots have signed seven players who ended the season on their practice squad.

The team announced Tuesday that it had signed tight end Carson Butler, quarterback Jonathan Crompton, wide receivers Darnell Jenkins and Buddy Farnham, defensive lineman Marlon Favorite and defensive backs Thad Turner and Ross Ventrone.

The Patriots signed Crompton to the practice squad Nov. 3 after he was waived from San Diego’s practice squad Sept. 4. The Chargers drafted him in the fifth round in 2010 out of Tennessee. The other six players signed by the Patriots entered the NFL as rookie free agents.

New England’s 14-2 record was the NFL’s best in the regular season, but it lost 28-21 to the New York Jets in the divisional round Sunday.
