ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Phil Mickelson is making his first trip to the Middle East in an attempt to improve upon his 2010 season.
The Masters champion will start his season on Thursday at the Abu Dhabi Championship. He’ll be joined by top-ranked Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Retief Goosen and Martin Kaymer in the opening leg of the European Tour’s desert swing.
Mickelson’s goal is to have the year he expected in 2010. He said with the exception of the Masters, it wasn’t the year he had hoped for.
