ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have been given permission to talk to Baltimore assistant Al Saunders to fill their vacant offensive coordinator job.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday the team granted the request from the Raiders. Saunders has been an offensive consultant for Baltimore the past two seasons. He worked on the same staff as new Raiders coach Hue Jackson in 2009. Jackson was promoted from offensive coordinator earlier this week.

Saunders has been a coach for nearly three decades in the NFL, serving as head coach in San Diego in the 1980s and more recently as offensive coordinator in Kansas City, Washington and St. Louis. He spent two years with current Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell with the Redskins.
