LONDON (AP) — Bids from Tottenham and West Ham for London’s Olympic Stadium could be rejected, and officials still may revive the original plan of retaining a 25,000-capacity arena mainly for track and field after the 2012 Games.
Reservations have been raised about the bids from both Premier League clubs, which must submit their final plans for the stadium to the Olympic Park Legacy Company on Friday.
The company’s board is expected to decide its preferred bidder on Jan. 28. But the legacy company told The Associated Press on Thursday that the board could still go ahead with the original plan in London’s bid for the Olympics.
The stadium was to be downsized from 80,000 to 25,000 seats and serve mainly as a venue for track events.
