Beginning in March, the Washington Employment Security Department will take a week longer to release Clark County and other local unemployment rates and employment data. That’s because the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, seeking more uniformity in how states report their labor statistics, will no longer allow the Employment Security Department to release preliminary county-level data on the same day as the state data.
So, for example, January’s statewide unemployment rate will be released March 1 while Clark County’s will not be issued until March 8.
December’s state and county labor statistics will be the last to come out on the same day. They are slated for release today.
