BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) — Anthony Banks scored 19 points and Christophe Varidel added 16 to lead Florida Gulf Coast past Campbell 68-66 on Thursday night, ending a six-game losing streak.

The Eagles (4-13, 1-7 Atlantic Sun Conference) shot 52 percent from the floor (13 of 25) in the opening half, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range (71.4 percent) to take a 43-38 halftime lead.

Banks hit a layup with 55 seconds left to play to extend Florida Gulf Coast’s lead to 68-64 before Junard Hartley pulled the Fighting Camels back to within two on a jumper with 36 seconds remaining.

Hartley stole the ball from Varidel on the ensuing possession but missed the potential game-tying jumper with 4 seconds to go.

Lorne Merthie led Campbell (9-9, 3-6) with 18 points on 6 3-pointers. Eric Griffin added 17 points and eight rebounds.

Chase Fieler added 14 points and Tim Snyder 10 for Florida Gulf Coast.
