SHERIDAN, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon logger was killed when the heavy equipment he was driving fell into a creek while trying to cross a small bridge.

The Polk County sheriff’s office said 44-year-old Dan Fults of Albany was operating a logging shovel near Sheridan on Wednesday when the equipment fell into Mill Creek.

Crews from the Sheridan Fire District and the Newberg Water Rescue team were dispatched to assist with recovering the body.

Deputies were investigating the cause of the accident.
