WOODLAND, Wash. (AP) — Woodland police and fire officials know things are stinky in their southwest Washington city and they say Cascade Natural Gas is the reason.
The utility said Thursday the problem is “excessive odorant” in Woodland’s natural gas system. That’s causing strong, abnormal odors.
Natural gas providers add a chemical odorant to the gas that has a distinctive, sulfur-like aroma, similar to rotten eggs. They do that to aid in the detection of leaks.
Police say the problem may persist for a couple of days.
