Montana beats Montana State 75-61

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Brian Qvale had 17 points and 18 rebounds to lead Montana to a 75-61 victory over Montana State Saturday night.

Qvale posted his fourth consecutive double-double for the Grizzlies (15-5, 7-1 Big Sky), grabbing 10 offensive rebounds. Art Steward was the high scorer for Montana with 19 points and Will Cherry added 16 points.

Montana raced to a 23-7 lead as Cherry scored 12 points in the early run. Qvale missed much of the first half with two early fouls and Montana State (11-8, 5-2) closed to within 40-29 at halftime. But Montana stayed in control of the game in the second half.

Cody Anderson led the Bobcats with 13 points, with Erik Rush and Danny Piepoli scoring 12 points apiece.
