Oakland, Mich., defeats North Dakota State 83-76

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Keith Benson’s double-double helped Oakland, Mich., set a Summit League record with its 17th consecutive league victory in an 83-76 decision over North Dakota State on Saturday night.

Benson had 21 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots as the Golden Grizzlies (14-8, 9-0) broke the record they had shared with Cleveland State.

Larry Wright added 20 points, including 4 of 4 3-pointers, as Oakland won its seventh straight. Drew Valentine scored 11 points and Reggie Hamilton 10.

Marshall Bjorklund led the Bison (9-10, 3-6) with 21 points. Eric Carlson and Michael Tveidt scored 11 apiece, and Freddy Coleman and Drew Lundberg had 10 each. Taylor Braun had nine rebounds as the Bison forged a 40-33 edge on the boards.

Wright sank a 3-pointer with 16:51 left for a 43-32 Oakland edge. North Dakota State sliced it to 68-67 with 3:26 to go, but Oakland hung on.
