Pepperdine takes 78-75 win over Loyola Marymount

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Lorne Jackson scored 24 points, including the go-ahead free throw, to lead Pepperdine over Loyola Marymount 78-75 in a wild back-and-forth contest on Saturday night.

The lead changed hands 20 times in the second half and 24 times overall. Neither team led by more than four points after halftime.

The Waves (8-14, 2-3 West Coast) pulled it out with 12 seconds left when Jackson hit three straight free throws to take a 76-75 lead.

Pepperdine’s Keion Bell hit two more free throws with four seconds left for the final score. Bell finished with 22 points.

Ashley Hamilton led the Lions (8-11, 1-4) with 19 points while Drew Viney scored 17 and Vernon Teel 13.

Mychel Thompson added 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds for the Waves.
