Vermont pulls away from Binghamton 70-52

VESTAL, N.Y. (AP) — Brendan Bald and Luke Apfeld each scored 13 points to lead Vermont past Binghamton in America East Conference play on Sunday.

The Catamounts (14-5, 5-2) trailed 37-35 with 14:15 left to play, but used a 10-1 run to take a 45-38 lead with 8:57 to go. Vermont led by at least four the rest of the way and scored 12 of the final 14 points to pull away late.

Evan Fjeld scored 12 points and Joey Accaoui added 11. Brian Voelkel had nine points and nine rebounds for the Catamounts, who outscored Binghamton 26-16 in the paint.

Mahamoud Jabbi led the Bearcats (6-14, 3-4) with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kyrie Sutton and Moussa Camara each added 10 points.

Binghamton shot 34.6 percent from the floor (18 of 52), including 5 of 18 from 3-point range (27.8 percent) en route to its fourth consecutive loss.
