Wisconsin-Green Bay defeats Valparaiso 63-61

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Alec Brown scored 15 points and Wisconsin-Green Bay rallied to beat league-leading Valparaiso 63-61 Sunday.

Jarvis Williams and Rahmon Fletcher each added 10 points for the Phoenix (11-10, 5-4 Horizon), who have won five of six and ended the Crusaders’ five-game winning streak.

Cory Johnson led Valparaiso (15-6, 7-2) with 17 points, Ryan Broekhoff had 15 and Matt Kenney 13.

The Crusaders took their biggest lead, 28-18, on Broekhoff’s 3-pointer 25 second into the second half before Green Bay began to whittle down the margin. A 6-0 run got the Phoenix to within 38-37 with 11:47 to play, and they later took the lead with an 11-0 spurt that made it 54-47 with 2:02 remaining.

Valparaiso closed the gap to 62-61 on another 3 from Broekhoff with 3 second left but couldn’t get any closer.
